Course Convenor: Designing a course learning and teaching sequence that aligns to the course learning outcomes (OLE)

Description

This Online Learning Experience explains how to develop a pathway of learning and teaching activities that gradually allow students to build their knowledge and skills, and that are aligned with assessment and course learning outcomes.

Overview

In order for students to adopt a deep approach to learning, they need to be engaging in tasks meaningfully, making use of appropriate and well-structured background knowledge of experiences and working conceptually rather than with unrelated details or ideas.

Teachers support their students’ deep approaches to learning when they create coherent learning and teaching sequences that elicit active responses from students, build on what students already know, challenge alternative conceptions, and align learning experiences with assessment tasks and course learning outcomes.
